CASE STUDY No. 1

CLIENT: MOD HMNB CLYDE

APPLICATION:

NEUTRON DETECTOR STORAGE UNIT

PROBLEM:

HMNB had problems storing and shielding redundant Neutron Detector units while they were awaiting disposal. They required a large free standing unit which would offer protection from at least 8 units. The site location also meant that limited space was available.

SOLUTION:

Mazel designed a free standing unit comprising of a steel/Radishield/steel laminate. The Radishield was poured into the panels to form an integral unit while easy access was provided through a combined removable top and front panel. A racking system was built in so that the Neutron Detectors could be stored in a nested arrangement.
